Hannah helps senior leaders make better decisions about innovation investment so that the time and money their business invests in innovation has the greatest impact.
She does this by helping them:
- Identify where to adjust their core business processes to support innovation
- Understand and use suitable innovation success metrics
- Establish decision-making processes which are appropriate for innovation in their organisation
Hannah started her career at Deloitte where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant within the corporate tax division. Following finance roles at a UK international development charity and Innocent Drinks (where Hannah provided decision-making support to the innovation and marketing teams), Hannah moved away from finance into project and programme delivery roles at Cancer Research UK, the largest fundraising charity in the UK and the world’s largest independent funder of cancer research.
With her strong commercial background and experience of project delivery, Hannah moved into innovation. She led Cancer Research UK’s award-winning citizen science programme, crowd-sourcing the analysis of cancer research data using mobile apps and games. Before setting up her own consultancy practice, Hannah ultimately held the role of Director of Innovation, Insight & Portfolio Strategy at Cancer Research UK. As part of this role she established an arm’s length disruptive innovation unit which was exploring and exploiting new business models that would have a massive impact on cancer.
Hannah is deeply passionate about the changing way in which social impact is delivered as we move from a society where “charity” and “corporate” were historically quite distinct to one where positive social impact is becoming a core part of doing business – and where social enterprises are delivering positive social change whilst being built upon sustainable business models. Understanding what this change means for charity sector and the economy as a whole is something Hannah is involved in through her trustee role at Social Tech Trust and more broadly.
